HSCRC13 #6 - Come Thou Fount...

This is my card for the Hymn and Scripture challenge located HERE.  One of the parts that jumped out at me was from the third verse.  "He to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood"
The verse I found to go along with that is I Timothy 2:5-6 "There is only one God and one Mediator, the man Christ Jesus.  He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone".
I made my card with a "picture" of the Easter crosses as I thought this was fitting.

SC429 Card to Self

The Card
This is my card for SC429 on splitcoaststampers.com located HERE.  I used scrap strips, a piece of corrugated cardboard and a strip of words that I had made for another card recently.  The center panel is cut from Kraft with a Spellbinders Petite Oval that I ran through the Cuttlebug after putting Ranger Distressed Vintage Photo on one side.  The butterfly is cut from a scrap with a Spellbinders die.
The Reason Behind the Card
A close acquaintance of ours committed suicide last night.  As I made the card, I tried to figure out the mind and heart of a person who would do that, and what could have been done to prevent it, if anything.  I am thinking he must have lost all hope for various reasons.  Maybe he felt God could just not forgive something he had done or maybe he couldn't forgive himself.  I only know that losing all hope would be the worst thing in the world.  There is always hope with Jesus, and if only I could get this across to people who don't understand it. The whole world can be against me, but Jesus is always FOR me and always there to comfort and encourage.  I think I am still in shock over our friend.  The card for myself will have nothing but a question mark inside and I will always wonder.

HSCRC #5 Search Me

This is my card for the Hymn and Scripture Challenge #5 located here.  I really had a hard time with this one.  When I saw what the hymn was, I immediately thought of this Mary Engelbreit picture, and a hunted it up.
I had looked at the hymn and decided I really liked the third verse where it says, "Take all my will, my passion, self & pride.  I now surrender, Lord in me abide."  I was feeling really "spiritual" and ready to start my card and then I looked at the picture.  What did I see?  Attitude!  Yes, attitude.   Look at that elbow.   She seemed to be saying "Here, take my heart, but you can look it over and you won't find anything bad in there.  Small stuff maybe, but nothing major"  She's not letting you see her eyes either.  And...I could identify really well.  Too well.
So then I went looking for my verse.  I finally picked Hebrews 4:12 and by this time God was showing me way more that was in my heart than I wanted to hear about.
Needless to say I have felt very beat up these last two weeks, but I believe God is the winner, and that makes ME a winner.  The inside of the card has a list.  It says, "Patience, Kindness, Thoughtfulness, Courage, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Love.   All these are a picture of you"
And this is my Goal

CAS212 - Up Against a Brick Wall

This is my card for CAS212 on Splitcoaststampers.com located HERE.  Sometimes cards just "happen" depending on my mood and this one did because it's the story of my life right now - Up Against a Brick Wall and Looking for a Way Out.  That little poppy that's looking over the top is probably me - looking for a way of escape.  :)
I stamped two rows of Stamping Sensations Brick Wall one on top of the other in Archival Jet Black, then stamped the Stampin' Up Poppies from the Oh So Lovely Hostess set right over the top and colored them with red and green copics.  The sentiment is an old stamp from The Paper Garden.  I rounded the edges and it's done.
Thanks for checking it out.

HSCRC13 #4 Worthy of Worship

This is my card for the HSCRC13 Challenge and is #4.  The Hymn is Worthy of Worship.  I found this stamp that says it all.  It's Psalm 96:4.  For my verse I used I Chronicles 16:25a which says, "For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise".  Amazing that these two verses are almost alike.  So many times things are repeated in the Bible.  Maybe it's so if we miss it the first time, we'll find it in another spot.
I printed and tore out the hymn, inked the edges and glued it on a "rejected" background from many moons ago.  Next I stamped the verse with VersaMark, embossed it with gold, and cut it with a Spellbinders die.  The Victorine Originals flower just seemed to fit and the brad with the word "Time" tells me it's time to give Him Praise and Honor.

Victorine Challenge #54

This is my  card for the latest Victorine Originals challenge located here.  Challenge #54 is Anything Goes.  No specific theme.  Make what you want.  I have used a piece of Basic Grey Aged and Confused for my background.  Next I put on a piece of vintage sheet music which I love on ANY card and is SO easy to stamp on.  I stamped the Victorine grass and flowers right onto the sheet music and then added a Spellbinders Shapabilities sunflower die cut for my sunshine.  Get over there and check out the challenge.  There is always a drawing for a gift certificate for stamps.
